The aroma had moderate notes of caramel, brown sugar and fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish and fruity with elements of nut, caramel, toasty malts and bitter fruity hops. The finish was long, bitter and fruity with lingering brown sugar. Fairly full bodied. Nice. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

rerate, sorta, tied the year old 034 and o3. have to say the beer peaks around a year of aging. still good at 2, but a bit dusty with an overpowering raisin. the year old was superb. embracing fruity hops still present but everything melds. a damn fine beer. worth sitting on. turbothy (725), Bonn, Germany

Ugly dark brown color and lack of head detract from the appearance, but the beer is well-balanced with a bit of fruity sweetness in the finish. I’m going to go buy more of this. clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 8, 2007 Whoa. Alcohol flavor up front, but dissipates quickly. Very spicy, hints of anise. VERY malty nose and flavor, but some nice hops flavor that was a bit unexpected. The hops were unpresent at all in the nose... Otherwise a thick and syrupy brew with a bunch of good flavors. Nice level of carbonation, good tan head. A definite must try. gferd (99), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2005 Pours to a reverse cascading head that is huge creamy and rocky and beige. The body is a deep brown with shiny red highlights. Excellent lacing. The aroma is chocolate, anise, brown sugar, oak. The flavor is sweet, oak, cooked turbinado sugars, and chocolate. The palate is a little sticky and feels watery perhaps due to filtering. :( Would be better if it wasn’t. Maria (6309), Thisted, Denmark
