Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Dark brown color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is brown sugar, dark malts and dark fruits. A medium to full bodied barley wine. Malts are sweet with lots of chocolate, dark fruit and brown sugar flavors. Hops are slightly herbal and grapefruit. Mostly big sweet malt flavors in this beer, balanced mostly toward the malts, not that that’s a bad thing. Fairly smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Red-brown beer, full of small UFO’s with an amber-cream head, leaving impressive lacerings. Very fruity, sweet-grainy & alcohol nose. Fruit on alcohol, like oranges or so in a real sangria , but more syrupy. Very rich fruity-cake taste, alcohol (with its additional sweetness) obvious. Wry prunes, discreet but present hops. Old, madeirisated winerest. Thick, alcoholwarming, rich voluptuous MF. Excellent, if not blasting B.W. Among the best of Flying Dog.

Amber and a bit unclear. Off-white head, mostly lasting. Sweet aroma, malt, caramel. Flavor starts sweet and finish moderate bitter. Syrup bitter.

Dark mahogany pour with an off white head and spotty lacing. Sweet malts, some roast, licorice, chocolate, and maybe some fruits. Big time sweet malts in the flavor. Some more roasted malts, some chocolate, and more fruit, maybe grape or plum. Some hints of the licorice as well. A full body along with an oily palate, but not cloying. Decent little barley wine.

Very dark red, slight head fades away. Good aroma, an interesting meld of molasses, cola, and spruce. Flavors are similar. Simultaneously refreshing from the cola and resin flavors, yet warming from the alcohol. Touch of burn from the alcohol. Not bad overall.

Bottle Pours a very dark redish brown, with almost no head and little lacing. Aroma is sweat, carmel, plums, dates. Busy but nice and rich. Flavor is probly the same description. No surprises. The ABV hits you a bit but is masked well untill the finish where it comes through a bit more. Palate is thick and heavy. Rich and smooth. Ive had only a few BWs and this is pretty good.
