I liked this one. Marked as 10.2%. Small, creamy, off-whitee head with a murky amber body. Decent lacing, as far as retention goes, the head reverts to just a ring in about 2 and a half minutes. Aroma is of sugar, seeded fruites, and chocolate malts. Flavor is of licorice, vanilla, chocolate, alcohol, coffee grounds and dates. Creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation, noticable alcohol.

This company uses wild cartoon labels that look like they were drawn by Ralph Steadman. This one has a graffiti-covered pooch with a horn on his snout. The aroma is spunky, floral, and malty, and the brew is dark with virtually no head. The flavor is strong malt and grains, very sweet but complex. There are touches of coffee, herbs, and hops. A little too syrupy for regular consumption, but it could be a good dessert beer. A good value too.

Very maltly..with hints of chocolate, biscuit, oat, some dark fruit sweetness in both aroma and palate. Not too much in terms of hops....which makes for a slightly weaker barley wine in flavor, but this is still a decent beer by far.

7 oz bottle. Pours a deep amber. Nose is sweet malts, pine and citrus hops, cocoa and oatmeal. Flavor is a smooth blend of mild hops, sweet malts, booze and toasted grains.

Bouteille de 12 oz, vieille d’environ 1 an. Arômes d’alcool, de caramel et de fruits rouges. Robe rouge foncée et claire, faible effervescence. Moyennement ronde en bouche, la bière présente des notes de caramel et de whisky, puis un houblon résineux se manifeste. Finale d’alcool. Intéressant.

Hazy amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is heavy on the alcohol, with nice roasty dark malt. The flavor has a bit of hop bitterness and ends in some chocoalaty/coffee roast malt flavors, which mingle quite nicely with the finishing hop biterness. Nice American BW, not exceptional.

Pours a dark amber brown with a thin off-white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malt, raisins and light hops. Flavor is sweet up front, with flavors of raisins and figs. But then some coffee malt gets you in the back of the throat in the aftertaste. Alcohol is readily present and warming. Thick and full-bodied. If you’re a big malt fan, this is one for you.

Bottle--vintage 2007. Dark red pour with thin tan head. Sugary, caramel aroma with slight hop notes. Solid maltiness with toffee flavor. Alcohol adds to aroma about mid-glass. Not overpowering but slight bitterness at finish. Good barleywine style from Flying Dog.
