Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

12oz bottle. A hazy, deep brown pour with a small beige head, light lacing. Great aromas of candied dark fruits (plums, raisins.....ect). A light hop bite was present as well. Flavor was sweet and malty. Finish was thick and syrupy. Overall a pretty good barely wine.

12 oz bottle from DiCarlo Mundelien vintage 06E? Pours a clear dark brown red. Abundant malty nose, red fruits cookie, hint of alcohol. Cookie/toasted and fruit are the first notes on my tongue fading into chocolate, licorice, and bittering pine in the finish. Definitely what i was in the mood for, and pretty decent.

Loved the aroma, nice combination of floral, pine, citrus, and malts. Beautiful pour, dark brown, off-white head, nice lacing. Flavor was not all that great though, kind of bland, malty at first, with licorice and alcohol finish. Medium body. Kind of gets your hopes up at first, then disappoints when you finally taste it. Decent, but not my favorite BW.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

pours a dirty orange, very small white fizzy head aroma is yeast, bread, citrussy hops, caramel, and slightly cloying sweet alcohol flavor is more mild than expected, in a good way: the alcohol is fairly apparent, and kind of rummy, but there are bits of toffee and orange peel, some nice bitterness to balance good medium body keeps the thing from being too chewy long finish, but its mostly bite from the alcohol

Dark brown color with a sweet nose that wasn’t over the top considering the style. Strong malt body with a zesty character that I couldn’t identify.

I think this is a very good example of a malty, European-style barleywine. The aroma is yeasty, fruity, very malty, with a slight hint of raisins and some bread pudding. The flavor is smooth, very silky maltiness with notes of dry, earthy fruit and nuts, some caramel and brown sugar are also detectable, but in balance. I can’t wait to drink the other three! Seek this beer out if you’re a fan of English barleywines.

12 oz. bottle - ruby red against the light and slightly cloudy; slight tan head and pleasant candy aromas; slightly spicy with the alcohol coming out more in the aftertaste; a decent MW though that doesn’t overpower you like some others
