Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

A different taste from most barleywines, no alcohol burn in the after taste. I like this one it was a good overall barleywine, very complex but different.

Oooh, ooh, oooh, awesome. Dug it big time. This one is just good old fashioned delicious, with one of sexiest looking pours in recent memory.

It’s barley wine and not available here that much so every new one I can taste is bound to get a positive rating. Nothing earth shattering but still a nice sweet barley wine, missing the crucial bite to make this much more than an above average barley wine in my books.

Poured a rich copper color with nice little head. Malty sweet flavor with nice hop balance. Could not tell this was 10%.

Pour is deep reddish mahogany. Little lacing and a small off white head. The nose is spice, dark fruits, and some hops. The taste is raisins, prune, spice, hops, sweet barley, and licorice. The palate is somewhat thick and oily. A great beer from Flying Dog.

( 12oz bottle) pours deep red with great frothy head. Nose of burnt caramel, aromatic hops, and toffee. Taste of lightly bitter hops, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses and burnt caramel. Finishes creamy and somewhat alcoholic.
