Good raisins, chocolate and nutty flavours- and caramel for sure. Not very hoppy and the alcohol is well-hidden. Full-bodied and soft without being sirupy. A hit-but then what would you expect from his brewer? ChainGangGuy (2612), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Appearance: Pours an opaque, dark reddish-brown body with a scattered, off-white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling, malty aroma with notes of toffee, roasted grains, ripe plums, and with a full, everpresent, evergreen pine scent.
Taste: Sweet maltiness tasting of toffee candy. Plum fruitiness. Slight roasty coffee and woody hints. Piney, resinous hop character and moderate bitterness which hits right about the time the warming alcohol does. Finishes that’s all at once bitter, sweet, warming, and that roasty touch that won’t go away.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Well, I will say it’s one of the better beers in the Flying Dog line-up. jimvy (131), O’Fallon, Missouri, USA

Aroma is really strong maltiness with hints of alcohol. Body is thick. Flavor is strong maltiness with some dark fruit and raisins. Finishes very clean. Overall, very surprised....I’ve had this a few times before and wasn’t impressed. Only got this bottle because I was with someone who wanted to try it. Not sure if it’s the freshness or the batch, but very enjoyable, very nice beer. troopie (903), USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Bottle from 2007: Malty, chewy and sweet. Aromas and flavors of figs, molasses and sugar cookies. Minimal hop presence, this one is all malt. Dark, rich, glorious malts providing layers of dark fruit and roasted grain flavors. Mottled amber brown in color, minimal head and lacing. Warm and generously filling. I was surprised by the depth of this brew. trevor211 (518), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 22, 2009 I was super-impressed with this one. 07 vintage, on tap at Brouwer’s Hard Liver 09. Pours a medium copper color with a thin head. Honestly tastes like Angel’s Share’s younger sibling. It has the same fantastic balance, with powerful notes of malts and hops. Tastes much darker than it looks. I’m impressed. armando629 (1009), Budapest, Hungary
