Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Bottle. This looks and smells great. Pours a lovely rich copper with a little tan head but the aroma, oh the aroma. Smells like slightly burnt toffee, raisins, butter, creme brulee. The flavour is not as sweet as the nose suggests but this is not a bad thing. There are notes of molasses, iced tea and dried fruits with a slightly salty undertone. Also the alcohol is quite noticable without being aggressive. A very appealing barley wine but not exactly run of the mill.

Aroma is like most barley wines, sweet, with strong alcohol and caramel/candy notes. The aroma of dark fruit jumps out right away as the bottle is opened. Very pleasing. Appearance is a very attractive ruby red, hazy, almost no head to speak of. Flavor is sweet, malty. The finish leaves an alchol sting, and some sugary sweetness. Nice thick mouthfeel. Good BW overall, not the best.

0.355 l bottle. Amber color with small head. Sweet seductive liquer like aroma with almonds, honey melon, caramel, dark sugar, raisins, berries and warming alcohol. Sweet, toffeish, raisiny and caramelly flavor with almonds, toasted malt, nuts, cherry, honey and a hint of sharp alcohol. Chewy mouthfeel. Great aroma and pretty good flavor too. Could be softer and more drinkable.

Had this beer on 8/26/2006. Aroma is the rich sweet scent of dark roasted malts. Color is a deep rich brown that lets little light though. Carbonation is low with a thin but tight head. Taste is smooth and rich. Starting with a rich body it goes down smooth with just a light bite on the end. Finish comes in with a rich malt flavor that end with a sweet caramel taste. At the very end it leaves you with a lighter feel then most Barley Wines. I feel it may be just a tad bit light, but this does make it a very drinkable Barley Wine because it isn’t soo heavy and rich.

Dark Cola pour, tan head lasted through out slowly deminishes. Not a real strong aroma strong barley malt flavor couldn’t taste the alcohol but you knew it was there. Taste of raisin/ prune and a hint of Chocolate and licorice. I liked it.

Pours a deep mahogany into the glass with minimal white head. Aroma is very nice with bubble gum like scents as well as just an overall fruity smell. The taste is absolutely delicious. A lot of the fruit in the nose really comes through in the flavor and the alcohol is really well disguised, while still imparting a warming sensation.
