Commercial Description:
Big malty flavors, including licorice and chocolate, are balanced with a moderate hop profile. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool).

Smells like a common barley wine - malty, sweet, and strong. It has a dark ruby brown appearance with almost no head at all. It tastes slightly sweet, boozy, and the normal flavor you get in a barley wine without any twists or additions.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, consumed 20-12-09 Pours murky puddle brown with an off-white head that soon departs. Some vanilla on the nose, plenty of oomph from the alcohol on both nose and in mouth. Its a touch sticky, and is a big bolshy barley wine, nice stuff though. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Copperbrown beer with quite weak and beige head. Aroma is complex: lot of red berries, sweet malts, syrup, some gingerbread and glogg. Flavour is dryer than aroma, but still there are some sweetness, also berries, bitterness and no alcohol. Sweet and full-bodied to drink. Good, balanced, berry and "easy" barley wine.

Pours dark reddish brown with no head. Aroma has some grapes and sherry. The flavor reminds me of portwine, sherry and trappist beers. Quite drinkable.

Bottle; poured an amber/brown color with only the faint trace of a tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, alcohol, earth, with a bit of citrusy hop in the finish. Based on the fairly low ratings for the style, I was expected this to be worse. It was actually quite solid. Very earthy, with notes of caramel and fruit. Alcohol was present, but about what you would expected given the ABV. The finish is slightly sweet with some earthiness. After taste lingers for a bit and it was quite nice. A solid beer overall.

Pours out a nice dark carmel color. Smells very nice, yet sweet. Its silky smooth yet has some after tones of overly sweetness, and a little extra alcoholy. Its good but tastes too strong of overtones.

pours a dark clear amber with a thin tan beige head. aromas were really strong when i opened it. the body is a clear dark amber and the head faded to just about nothing. it is almost full bodied and a little on the sweet side. has nice mouth feel and the alcohol content is well hidden. i smell a lot of malt, some alcohol, and some really ripe fruit with spices. it tastes nice with a really nice aftertaste that is really plesent to enjoy. it is also a little spicy before it finishes and has notes of bitter vegetables and pungent fruit. nice warmer for the body on a cold night.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-amber color with a large khaki head that lingered. The aroma had moderate notes of caramel, brown sugar and fruity hops. The flavor was sweetish and fruity with elements of nut, caramel, toasty malts and bitter fruity hops. The finish was long, bitter and fruity with lingering brown sugar. Fairly full bodied. Nice.

2007 vintage on tap at RFD in Washington, DC. Mostly clear dark amber color with a small off-white head, a little lacing, and even some legs. Aroma is caramel, toffee, nuts, fruity esters, and floral notes. Flavor is somewhat standard for a barleywine, if there is such a thing. Caramel, toffee, mild roast, fruity notes, syrup, and faded floral hops. A little booze in there. mildly syrupy with medium-full body .
