Commercial Description:
Brewed in the centuries old tradition of German beers, our brewers use more wheat and proprietary yeast to give it the unmistakable character of a flavorful, authentic Hefeweizen. The High proportion of wheat gives In Heat its smooth, full-mouth feel and our special yeast gives it its unique fruity and spicy aroma.

Cloudy orange color; no head worth talking about. It’s got a dumb name and a Hunter S. Thompsan quote on the label, so I wasn’t expecting much. Even these hopes weren’t quite met. Sugary finish, hints somewhere of fruit and spices, but it’s lost in the... wateriness of it all.

I actually enjoyed this one. A little cloudy, characteristic of a good weiss. In the background there are some fruity notes, maybe a little banana. I was most surprised because it is a german style wheat, and not an American. It has a nice yeasty flavor, smooth and full-bodied.

Tap at Ginger Man, NYC. Pours a rich, hazy yellow with a fluffy, white head. Nose is big on banana and cloves, some bread. Flavor is quite fruity - banana, orange - and only a bit yeasty, bready. Mildly sweet. Medium-bodied and nicely carbonated. Crisp and refreshing. A good hefe.

Reviewed 10/3/2009 (bottle): Pours a dark orangish color body, small white head, diminishing. Malty hefe aroma, some maltiness. Lots of fruitiness. Floral. Very fruity tasting. Some apple and pear, light fruit. Soft mouthfeel, clean aftertaste. Some banana, especially in the aftertaste. Tasty, refreshing.

Rating #100. Yay, a crown for this one! Pours a murky light yellow color with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is quite fruity. I recognize some citrus, orange, mango and passion fruit, quite delicate but lovely. Flavor is disappointingly watery. Very slightly sweet and with a watery bitter finish. Can only imagine this will be somewhat better suited as a refreshing drink in the summer.

(12 ounce bottle) Pours a hazey golden liquid. Has very little head and little head retention. Aroma is of a wheat malt and fruity bannana. Taste is wheat malt with cloves, bannana and some bubblegum. Has a average carbonation but still is flat for a hefeweizen.

Bottle. Pours a just hazy apricot gold with a medium to large white head. Light clove and honeyed banana. Medium bodied, but possibly over carbonated. Light wheat and banana flavors with a bit of grain and paper. Finishes a bit empty with more grain.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a a clear a yellow golden color with a small, quickly diminishing frothy white head, no lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, wheat, bananas, bread, and lemons. Flavor is wheat, bananas, yeast, cloves, and some spiciness at the end. Mouthfeel is light, watery, and a little fizzy. Kind of boring beer, but wouldn’t be bad on a hot day.
