Clear reddish amber with a medium off white head. Sweet aroma with caramel and hints of hops. Sweet flavour with toasted malt, caramel and hoppy notes finished bitter this one.

This smells taste and feels like a really cheap beer that is missing a mountain of ingredients to be what it is supposed to be. Smells like stale water and weak beer ingredients. Looks like a decent amber ale should, but this isnt an amber. Taste is altogether offensive in slightly better than a Lord Chesterfield kind of way. Watery mouthfeel. Bad bad bad bad beer. Sorry. 2008 12 oz.

Amber pour with barely any head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is caramelly, with a bitter finish. Kind of watery, not very english. Alcohol is apparent. Its ok, not the best winter seasonal but not a drain pour.

Sweet air-freshener and soft malt aromas. Soft carbonation. Thin sweetness, simple burntness and hoppiness, and a touch of sherbet. Tacky and unsophisticated. Some ginger there too, some raw hops, presumably Amarillo, but on the whole this is a bit of a mess. I wish american brewers would not make such bad attempts to mimic english beer styles. It is not an English Strong Ale, call it an American Messed-Up Ale instead, please.

Bottle. Pours a ruby color with a large, light brown head and a clear body. Aromas of roasted malts, pine, and wood. Thin body and texture on the mouthfeel, but long duration with heavy bitterness afterwards. I have had much better beers from Flying Dog.
