Aroma of sweet malt, toasted malt, nice spicey earthy hops, light nut. Taste is similarly toastey, withsweet malt, and nice bitter hop finish. Hops are a little more forward than other "winter ale"s. Mouth is medium bodied and well carbonated. Overall, a solid brew. ljay6880 (153), , Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 29, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was a clear, cider amber with a thin beige head. Nose was rock candy, hops, bubble gum, and a bit of spice. Taste is hoppy and bitter with a light sweet taste that creeps in, to linger along with the bitterness. Not crazy about this one. It’s not terrible, but when a beer is this bitter, there has to be a lot more going on before I can truly enjoy it. I would pick this over Budweiser, but that is not saying much. Sweetish spiced aroma with some maltiness.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours a beautiful clear amber with a thick, creamy, foamy head with some lacing. Aroma is sharp and of grains, coriander, malt and citrus(rasp). Taste is very bitter, but also a bit sweet. Unique and different indeed. Not my favorite, but worthy of credit. Medium carbonation. Quite short bitter finish. rocbyter (921), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA
