| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Bottle. Pours a beautiful dark ruby color with a think lasting head. Nose of fruit, possibly rasberries or cranberries with a slight nuttiness. Taste is smooth with malty overtones. Hop presence is lacking, but this really is a good beer from FD. Flying dog was the brewery that got me into the game long ago, glad to see that they can still put out a great winter brew. I really like this one. MrRain (433), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2005 12 bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a mahogany brown with a thin persistant head. It has a watered down malty smell. It has a taste reminicent of a well-crafted amber with an oatmeally finish. Very parculiar actually. There are very mild fuel tones and it’s a little bit sweet. It’s not bad but it would be better if the alcohol content were upped. For some reason I had this beer listed as a K9 Cruiser Attitude beer at 7.3% in my personal notes from last year. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA

Malty aroma that is reflected strongly in the roasted flavor (which I like). Lightly hopped. Very tasty and enjoyable. bethmatt0421 (319), Covington, Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Looks dark amber red. Smells of just a little bit of nuts, and breads. You can almost tell whats coming, just by the smell. Average carbonation, very malty, and smooth & oily palate. I find, maybe a little bit of a chocolate, roastiness. little hops present. I think the english strong ale title refers more to the maltiness than anything. Overall it’s really a great winter brew. One of the best FD brews.
