| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Bottle. Pours a ruby color and not too much of a head. Aroma is hay and fruit...not much for me to like there. Very clean maltiness and a thinner than anticipated mouthfeel. Fruity finish with a touch of fruit (cherry?) but low bitterness. Lacking in many areas (depth, taste, quaffing enjoyment). Arayaga2 (974), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Sweet malty aroma and taste... dark in color, light in taste. Very little in the way of a finish. Purely inoffensive. antisnobJP (275), St. Michael, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Bottle. Clear ruby brown with a fair sized creamy head and some lacing. Strong sweet malty aroma with a trace of Pacific NW hops in the background, actually smells promising. Sugary sweet malt flavor with a hint of roast and those same hops showing up at the finish. More hop flavor than bitterness. Thin mouthfeel would be easy drinking, but the beer isn’t that smooth. Alcohol is present. Not bad, just not great. Doesn’t have the flavor depth or mouthfeel of an English Strong or Old Ale. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 19, 2005 12 oz bottle. Dark, almost clear caramel with a fine small lasting head...caramel, vanilla and the smallest touch of pine in the aroma...sweet malty initial flavor becomes somewhat cloying as the body thins...brown sugar dominates light thyme-watercress...thin, watery finish. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 19, 2005 Deep mahagony pour with little or no head. Inviting rich roasted malt aroma. But the flavor was a little bit of a one-trick pony...all malt/all the time. Very little else going on here. No discernable hopping, no complexity, nothing to keep me interested for very long. In addition the mouthfeel was surprisingly weak-kneed and watery. The finish...sweet malt, what else? Just OK. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Feb 16, 2005 Strong porter aroma and of all things IPA color, but the taste is "something completely different". Strong malty flavor but without the bite. Flavor lacks much more than malt, however. Unique light-bodied mouthfeel for a beer this strong; the alcohol is well-hidden. Recommended if not simply for the unique mix of variegated elements normally found in distinct styles. Bockyhorsey (2546), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 16, 2005 From the pour this looked good. Off white head and dark amber color for the body. Malty aroma was noticeable. This one is good beer. Bought a case from Costco and the K-9 name caught my eye. Was looking forward to this beer and it didn’t disappoint me possumjc (100), Charleston - Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice deep red color iwith a thin brown head. Malty aroma. More hoppy flavor than is suggested bu the look and aroma. There are also some malty flavors but to me thay are understated. Not a bad beer but nothing really stands out about it either.
