Crafty07 (331), Lexington, Kentucky, USA Mar 31, 2008 Decent amber pour with minimal head and lacing. This is a sweet, prune-y ale with a noticeable spice and hops presence. Good beer but not sessionable.
Headbanger (921), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jun 18, 2008 12oz bottle(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-Pours a nice amber body with a big off white head and an aroma of roasted malt, raisin, and coffee. Taste of this full bodied brew is of malt, caramel, nut, and has a dry finish. Not the worst brew I’ve had but it meets all Flying Dog expectations. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pours a medium dark brown colour with khaki coloured head. Creamy texture, nutty, caramel and pancake flavour. Moderately malt with a smooth hop finish. jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 14, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a rich tan head and amber/red color. Aroma is medium malt-some sweetness, secondary earthy hops. Taste is medium malt-some sweetness, quickly overtaken by secondary earthy/sharp/metallic hops. Some peat comes through, dry. Not quite my style. Butters (263), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 9, 2008 Pours a beautiful clear orange-red with a small light-tan head. Smells clean and faint malt. Tastes nutty, and slightly vegetal with a distinct cherry flavor. Body is medium-full. Nice change of pace but i’d take a mad elf over this any day. EithCubes (1751), Indiana, USA Jun 4, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of mostly pale malt, with a touch of caramel and stronger straw/hay notes. Slightly nutty with a touch of yeasty funk. Pale chestnut pour with a toapy tan head. Crisp start, taste is nutty with chocolate and cherries, but all very restrained, toast and "English" yeast around the edges. Dry, slightly toffee aftertaste, and a touch of alcohol coming through. Medium-full body. Some smoky accents. Fruitiness is plain and remains separate from the mix. Musty hops. Closer to an English brown ale, methinks, and a decent, very drinkable (straightforward) offering.
