Unrefined sugary and alcoholic aroma of canned oranges with hints of banana. Medium to full-bodied with boozy notes of sugar, canned oranges and raw alcohol. Very clean mouthfeel. Sharp alcoholic finish with touches of candied oranges and a wee hint of banana and esters. A poor excuse for a Tripel JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2008 12oz bottle from Total Wine, Durham. I had to think hard before pulling the trigger on a 3 for palate. Anyways, a disappointing tripel in most respects. Clear orange pour with big bubbles masking an almost non-existent carbonation - what, a cloaking device? Anyways, the aroma is modest, with a bit of spice coming through in the nose but very anonymously. Watery mouthfeel washes out most of the flavor. A bit of butter, some malt, a trace of citrus. Pretty lame. punkrkr27 (638), Berkley, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Orange-gold pour with no head. Yeasty orange and light citrus aroma with a hint of biscuit and spice. Flavor is mostly sweet biscuit malt with overtones of ripe fruit, citrus, clove, and yeast. Medium body with moderate carbonation. It’s a decent but pretty uneventful tripel. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear yellow orange with thin white head. Aroma is sweet, lightly fruity, and very faintly spicy. Flavor has plenty of malty sweetness and some fresh biscuit leading to a somewhat yeasty, spicy, and dry finish. Carbonation is light and not all too active. Well hidden alcohol. Much better than expected. Dacrza (253), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Second of four "special" brews from Flying Dog four-pack...pleasant light orange brown body with white pencil-thin head...mildly effervescent... frsh malts and grapefruity citrus aromas; yeasty esthers are perfumy, with enough hops to add some spruce--complex! Light-to-medium bodied abbey ale--alcohol appears as a soft warming at last swallows... tight, taut golden pilsner taste with minimal wheat or malt...dry and a bit winey at the throat... and like a dry white wine, Kerberos retains its presence and strength start to finish... rather palatable and straightforward, yet not as full-bodied as one would expect from a tripel... | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Pours dark golden/orange with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma of esters: bubble gum, pineapple, banana, tropical fruits. Good profile on the aroma, but the intensity was a bit lacking. Taste is sweet and fruity, notes of bubble gum, banana, and honeysuckle. Mouthfeel is heavy with soft carbonation and a slight alcohol burn. Not bad. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Smells flowery, lightly fruity. Pours yellow with a pinkish tint. A bit watery but overall very enjoyable, lots of fruity notes here, very refreshing summer beer. verymerrymonk (257), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Pour is a cloudy gold. No head. Kind of thin for a tripel. Bananas, sugar, and soap. The last of those features kind of kills the entire experience. Let down.
