Pours a decent looking amber color with a white head. Aroma is faint malt with the tiniest bit of hops. Flavor is smooth, but uninteresting. Why, when you’re making a beer this smooth and light would you have the ABV at 5.5% Give me a pitcher of this and a bowl of pretzels and I’m a happy camper, but knockthe ABV down a tad.

Aroma is wheat and a bit malty, I also detected a very faint hop aroma. The taste was the same. This beer really let me down, but for a larger, it was ok.

Tastes exactly like you would expect an amber lager to taste. It’s a lager with a minor emphasis on the malt. Decent, but nothing exciting.

Picture perfect in the glass with a fantasic dead clear amber red hue. Fizzy head early but this soon disappeared. Lots of vienna or amber ale character on the nose; caramel malts, good hints of soft fruits, and a milk chocolate hint. Very attractive. I had to tone down my enthusiam when tasting as the lager bitternes and dryness swept away any chance for the sweeter malts to come through. Of course, this was probably the intent of the beer in the first place.

I don’t know why I decided to rate this, I rarely get excited about a lager and this isn’t even a good one. boring lager smell, a bit maltier and breadier than your average lager in the flavor.

Flying Dog’s Amber Lager has a copper hue with a thin head. Flavors of molasses and caramel unite with nuts and earthy tones to produce a strangely orchestrated sip. The finish is sweet, but dry. I had hoped for a longer taste duration, but the flavors just kinda evaporated before the party began. Furthermore, the hops were not too engaging. I appreciate the effort in taking the lager style to new places, but this attempt is just not particularly tasty.

Attractive copper/amber color with fizzy, quickly dissapating foam. Malty aroma with suggestions of flowers. Toasted malt and slight chocolate flavor. Not a whole lot of personality but that’s to be expected from this style.
