Pours amber color with a thin head that fades quickly to nothing. No retention, no lacing, zip. The aroma is malty, fruity and maybe a little grassy as well. This is a pretty sweet tasting beer with caramel malts, fruits which tasted a little like apricot with very faint hop bitterness in the finish. A tad too sweet, a little thin, not horrible but I’m not sure I’d even recommend this one as a session beer. sirpsycho (345), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a thin off white head with good duration over a clear, dark amber body.....nose is malty, some caramel......tastes initially of roasted malts finishing with nice hop bitterness.....mouthfeel is medium with nice carbonation. Over all a light, somewhat malty, but hoppy and clean finishing beer. This meets the "California Common" style very well. I’d like to do a blind test against Anchor Steam. Smells like caramel and biscuits. Tastes like biscuits and caramel with a slightly dry and metallic finish. More hops would help. A bit crisp for an ale at the beginning which could be from the carbonation. There wasn’t much to the aroma. Could be a great session beer and seems like a very consistent beer. liinis (721), Helsinki, Finland
