The aroma is mild maltiness, with a solid hop presence. The flavor is similar, the sweet malts are the initial flavor, ending with the hops. There are also hints of a home brewed flavor. In my opinion this is a tough style of beer to master and this is a decent amber. gunnfryd (3601), Kristiansand, Norway

Pours deep, clear red with a pretty, frothy yellow-white head. Aroma is very mild, some light caramel and that special yeastiness in california commons. Some berries as well. Light mouthfeel, rather fresh. Soft flavours, dominated by caramel and a fine dry bitterness. A little dull, though. yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 30, 2008 Bottle. A clear, dark golden to amber body with an off-white head. The aroma has a pleasant hoppy touch, filling in with the caramel maltyness, but it’s rather boring. Malty, caramel, slightly roasted flavor with a low level of bitterness. Medium body. Caramel, roasted malt and some hops and bitterness in the finish. Easy to drink, but lacks a bit. (080314) fluffy (229), Florida, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Medium amber color. Small head without much persistence but pretty good lacing. Malty nose. Taste of hops and a "chalkiness" to the taste that was a little objectionable. The chalkiness carried over into the finish. This was not a horrible beer, I’d still choose it over the vast majority of macros. Still, its flavor had issues. Meh, probably won’t buy again. FatguyRacer (132), Crownsville, Maryland, USA

Not an insult in my book. I’ve been drinking Bass for 25 years and its on my list of desert island beers. Good job.
