Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Bottle. Pours blackish brown with a small, light brown head. Aroma is quite malty with a slight coffee presence. Flavor is dark malts, mostly coffee flavor with a little chocolate. Very good beer overall.

Pours dark brown with ruby around the edges. Has a thick tan and a roated malt aroma. Creamy and milky mouth with a bitter coffee finish.

Bottle -- Nice deep crimson brew that pours with a cappuccino-like head with a little retention and lacing. Slightly sweet and fruity roasted aroma. Palate a little watery and thin. Flavour is more roasted malt with a metallic, twangy bitterness. Not the sort of porter you want to curl up with for the night, but OK. Probably best with food.

12 oz. bottle; I really want to try the Gonzo Imperial Porter. Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with Flying Dog as a whole. This porter was pretty mediocre. Not much else to say.

This was poured from the tap at Boudreax in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Porter was thin and lacked the full bodied taste of other porters. Not one of the better porters. I am unsure if the keg impacted what I normal get in a bottle. The food was good for local resturant with a choice of micro brews.

Pours brown with red at the edges. Aroma of roastd malt, a little smoke, and a slight caramel sweetness. Flavor is lots of bitterness, and some sweet malt. Not very balanced.

(35.5cl bottle) Clear, reddish brown colour with a light-beige, mid-sized foamy head. A bit dusty, slightly sweet and roasty malty aroma with a tinge of acidity, caramel and shy herbal hoppy notes. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a light carbonation. Delicately roasted malty taste with light notes of caramel, milk chocolate and a shy grainy touch. Sweet and faint bitter, mildly roasted finish. Not the archetype of a Porter, furthermore a bit slim for its abv (16.II.09).
