Aroma is malty with hints of dark roasted malts and prunes/dates. Flavor is smoky and fairly sweet with dark fruits and surprisingly strong of cherries. Finishes rather bitter and slightly astringent. An OK beer... Ober (1232), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2008 Bottle from sampler. Pours dark brown with nice frothy head. Good lacing. Aroma was of sweet plum, toasted chocolate, and roasted malt. Upon tasting, I swear I went through the whole bottle not getting a good impression of this beer. I guess that says something. Body is too light for my liking. Flavor leaned sweet, with some apparent hop character. Adenila (957), Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2008 From a 12 oz bottle pours a dark brown - not quite black with a thin head that did not linger - minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malts and toffee. Tasted a smokey hop with chocolate, some caramel as well as the hints of toffee. Seemed a little thinner and more carbonated than some other higher quality porters I have enjoyed. A decent beer. The label was the best part - got a chuckle from that.
