Jonte (402), Gothenburg, Sweden Jun 9, 2008 Updated: Sep 9, 2008 Bottle. Much more bitterness than the old version. Orange color. Aroma of floral and citrusy hops and sweet maltiness. The taste is mostly hoppy and bitter, notes of citrus, pine and tropical fruit, some malt sweetness in the background. Maybe a bit one-dimensional. Dry and bitter finish.
RedSox2004 (176), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Oct 11, 2008 Clear golden amber with a generous head and very nice lacing. Stong grassy hops aroma with plenty of biscuity malts. Assertive hops bitterness offset by almost as strong malt sweetness. Citrus and caramel are the clearest of a complex flavor profile. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, carbonation is only mild, but a nice crisp finish. Dango (11), Snekkersten, Denmark Oct 10, 2008 This is great. Strong hoppy, and wine-like aroma, beatifully rounded and very hoppy taste. I love this stuff, although it is very sweet and full for an IPA.
The bottle I just had looks like the one on the picture, but only lists an alcohol percentage of 5,6. It tastes stronger and if it was 7.1 like listed here, it would not suprise me. hopsnop (1), kiss, Florida, USA does not count Oct 10, 2008 Tried more than a few beers so far,not many IPA’s. this beer anyhow convinced me that I really like this style! Tried a couple of double IPA’s since and like this one better so far .Love the floral bouquet, similar to orange blossoms citrusy sweet and very fragrant .Nice balance of bitter and sweet
with flavors of citrus ,honey and perhaps even melons!Honeydew!Yum. Excellent hop notes.Recommended to anyone who is not AFRAID of HOPS!Man I like this beer, very worthy of praise. Chrism86 (91), Melbourne, Australia Oct 9, 2008 Pours slightly hazy orange amber with a small, fizzy off white head that dissapears rather quickly. Aromas are dominated sweet malt that brings mango, apricot and pineapple with some piney hop presence. Palate seems to have a lot of burnt butterscotch like malt and not so much fruit coming through, seems rather disjointed from the nose. Piney hops drive a long bitter finish with some darker caramel malts bringing a touch of balance on the back palate. Aubrey (2614), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 9, 2008 Shiny copper. Crisp and full texture. Weighty on the tongue, yet easy to drink. Most noticeable difference is in the malt flavors. They seem much more full and rounded, with wholesome notes of caramel, toffee and milk chocolate. Hop flavors and aromas are nice as well, with a decent amount of bitterness to boot. Overall, this IPA recipe is a great improvement over the last one, IMO. It’s just much more flavorful and it has more depth. I’ll be buying and drinking this again.
