sinisterdad (14), Denmark Jan 18, 2008 Clear orange yellow with a thin but stable white head. Classic mix of english hops (Fuggles?) and citousy/piney american hops. Flavour quite sweet but still balanced. Full palate jlf278 (250), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jan 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours with a small amount of head that ain’t stickin’ around. The color is marvelous extra-orange amber with a real shine to it. Very watery. Flavor is exceptionally woodsy and hits with a bitter wallop on the rear sides of the tongue. Oh my, this is one bitter devil. Far from balanced it has a charm to it. Not going to win any popularity contests but it’s unforgiving nature sets it apart from other moderate alcohol IPA’s. voota (761), Melbourne, Australia Jan 15, 2008 Pale copper with a weak white head. Lovely aroma of caramel, resiny english hops, quite piney and good malt complexity and strength to live up to the IPA tag. Nice full caramel body, strong hopping with english hops, with a nutty toasted untertone. Quite sweet, but reasonably balanced by the assertive bitterness. Comes together so well to make one of the better English IPA’s that I can remember tasting. Hoptiludrop (9), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count Jan 13, 2008 Aroma was fruity with a hint of sulfur. A spicy hop flavor with aggressive bitterness. This is another IPA with bitterness, but few other redeeming qualities. Frauditor (148), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA Jan 10, 2008 lagers journey towards a free tshirt. A copper/metallic taste nice hops. Good floral smell helped wash away the worm smell creeping in the door from the raineous outdoors AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Jan 9, 2008 Pours a clear copper color with an ample white head. Sweet smell of apricots, grapefruit, bubblegum. Loads of carbonation with a medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Mostly sweet malt taste with an herbal hop taste here.
Pretty unique flavor for a pale ale, more in the English style.
I’ll buy this again Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Jan 7, 2008 Pours a clear, pale, orange with a loose, frothy, off-white head. The nose is a fruity blend of pale malt and floral, citric and resinous hops. Fairly light-bodied and soft with a big, bitter-hopped finish. The flavor follows the nose, with a pale malt front followed quickly by a big hit of resinous hop bitterness. Fairly rough at the finish, this isn’t nearly as balanced as I would prefer. Some IPAs slap me in the face, with their hops, and make me smile. Some just slap me in the face. This beer is one of the latter. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2008 Bottle. Poured a nice copper body with thin head. Pleasant aroma of citrus and malt. Flavor is a little astringent with some citrus and a malty backbone. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one.
