congener (9), Michigan, USA does not count Nov 15, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured huge fluffy head with good retention, carmel color. Flavor is a little sour and reminiscent of grapefruit, bitter finish. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Nov 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 29, 2008Bottle. Amber/orange color with an off-white head. Aroma of grape, sweet fruit,
caramel and flowers. Tastes of grape, pine, caramel, sweet fruits and flowers. The finish is short and a bit soapy. Good IPA, but not top class. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Nov 11, 2007 A dark yellow pour, with little carbonation and head. Mild hoppy flavor. Lingering bitter aftertaste TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Nov 11, 2007 Golden brown color, big foamy off white head that seems to last. Very littlle amount of bubbles are present. A pleasant array of hops is noticed in the aroma - not overpowing or too piney. A buttery malt can be smelled as well. I don’t appreciate over the top hops and this is one of the better smelling IPAs I’ve encountered. A light to watery palate. Despite the great aroma the taste falls short. Very bitter, less like an enjoyable beer and more like crushed aspirin in water. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Nov 10, 2007 Bottle: Deep copper with an off-white head that laces sporatically. Restrained hops in the nose. Mainly flowery with some apparent caramel malt and light yeast. Flavor has some sweet phenolics upfront. The hop character leans toward herbal and light, without much charcter depth. Has a slightly inky bitterness in the finish. Simple IPA. dancatts (91), Pennsylvania, USA Nov 6, 2007 Poured orange and gold with a heavy hop aroma. Taste was initially smooth, but turned bitter during aftertaste, which kept getting worse the longer it’s in the mouth. This one is a little over the top, even for an IPA. alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 5, 2007 Clear light copper color with a decent cream head. Aroma is strong spicy and resinous hop with a crystal malt noticeable as well. Flavor is more of the same - delivering on the aroma expectations nicely. Distinct piney finish. I like chinook so I enjoy this beer, but in large quantities it would definitely be too much of a good thing. I wouldn’t hand this to someone who hasn’t really gotten into IPAs much, but I’d give it to someone who I know likes the northwest hops, or just someone who wants to try a new take on an IPA. joe19612 (673), camberley, Surrey, England Nov 4, 2007 Bottle from Bells brewery shop. Not the best American IPA i have had, but good enough to enjoy it.
