Deep gold/light amber beer with a bubbly off-white head. Chinook is strong in the aroma with delicious pine and tobacco, and also some roses noted. Hops are in charge of the flavour too - there is just enough malt to balance the bitterness, it never gets sweet in any way. Bitterness and hop flavour is noticed from the first impression to the lasting aftertaste. That’s my kind of IPA.

Had this beer on 8/28/1998. Color is a deep bright gold with good carbonation and head. Aroma is light and frizzy with just a hint of hops. Taste is light and bitter. It starts off with a light cool body, there is a bitterness at the start. As it goes down there is a slight sharpness that turns to a bitter finish that has no hop flavor at all. I feel the body is too thin, there is no hop flavor and is to bitter for the thin body.

Bottle poured a clear orange color with decent white head. Aroma was pine and caramel with some yeast esters. Flavor was slightly bitter with not much of a body.

Bottle. Pours a clear, golden amber with an off-white head. Nice lacing. Crisp and sweetish hoppy aroma. Flavour is sweetish and hoppy on a solid malty background. Bitter, hoppy finish. A bit dry. Lingering notes of apple as it warms. Lots of body. Not very complex, but a good beer nevertheless. 20-09-07.

The bottle had a sticker on it saying 6.4%, however if peled off it said 4.7%, i recon this was 6.4% though. Bottle from Beers of europe at ronnie’s. Aroam floats throught the room upon openeing i could smell it a mile away, great toffee malt base, loads of citrus and orange hop. Taste is similar loads of bitter orange character, full on thick body for the %. Very drinkable also. The smack head americans must be on glue to say that this is thin and not true to the american ipa style.

Poured an amber to copper color, weak head, weak lacing. FD didn’t impress me in appearance with the PA or now the IPA, disappointing since the style has beauty to offer. The aroma was caramel and piney grass hops. The flavor was caramel malts, bitter pine, herbal, and grassy hops, similar profile to the pale ale, stronger obviously, also a touch of diacetyl? Body a little light for an IPA. Many an IPA better, though this was at least ok, yet not my favorite take on the style are these more amber/red type IPAs.
