mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Sep 10, 2007 I am really surprised by the percentile of this beer. Flying Dog doesn’t seem to get the love from raters. I love the steady hop delivery of this beer. True, the marketing on the bottles doesn’t make me want to buy this beer, I have yet to be dissappointed by this brewery. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 10, 2007 Pours a clear orange/gold. Good head that falls fast and leaves a lot of lace. Nose is sweet with a pine tone. Hello hops. Taste is robust from the hops and has a citric edge to it. Flavor stays with you and doesn’t leave your tongue. Feel is carbonated and thick with a slight syrupy edge. Very drinkable if you don’t mind the large hop presence.
blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Sep 6, 2007 bottle code 30607fx. poured an amber in color with good carbination that continued to pool at the surface. smell is peach, apricot, malts, light pine resins from the hops, flowery yeasts, and a little sweet melon. taste has some nice hops, slightly bitter on the sides of the tongue, and finishes much more dry than i would have figured. good beer, seems like a real fresh bottle which always helps reakt (938), Greater London, England Sep 6, 2007 Deep amber with a white head, nice lace. Hoppy orange nose and a taste of hops and marmalade. Medium bodied. Far too hoppy for me. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Sep 4, 2007 Bottle with the code 35807FX. Pours a handsome clear copper-amber with a generous off-white head that lingers for several moments. The aroma of hops is understated compared to other IPA’s I have tried. Although the aroma I noticed makes me think this is a fresh batch. It was also kind of flowery. Regular rising carbonation up one side of the glass. Medium motuh feel. The taste of hops is good. The taste is better than the original aroma, so my first impresion is improved upon. A milder IPA than some and not all that bad. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Sep 3, 2007 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Fresh hop aroma with a little caramel. Mild caramel flavor and sweetness with some fruitiness and nice hop bitterness that lingers. Well-balanced and fairly assertive. Medium body and medium-carbo. Not bad. raymondwave (867), Finland Sep 2, 2007 Updated: Jan 17, 2008Bottle 0.355, alc 4.7 %. Smooth foamy carb, huge flowery and pinish hoppiness that has a bit of soapiness going on. Amazing density and flavor. A bit sweet and very very hoppy, but surprisingly pleasant bitterness. Some wine gums in there too. And grapefruit. This could be a winner, if I didn’t feel like drinking dishwasher at times. Re-rate (original 3.0): No soapiness present anymore (?), but I notice I’ve created a liking for big hoppiness. Hoppiness is pretty bitter, but lacks a bit of juiciness and afterburn. Still very good. craftbeerdesign (731), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 on draft at RJ Gators in Vero Beach, FL. Nice IPA with aromas of citrus and hops. Finish is a bit lacking but above average IPA that is always good to drink.
