Aroma of pine, citrus, but not that strong. It's bitter, but with a malt backbone. The problem is that it has too grassy of a flavor. Dry grassy aftertaste, but a nice body. beerbuzzmontreal (2916), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Pours with a thick, off-white head with great lacing. Clear copper body underneath. Floral hoppy aroma with a bit of smoke. Taste is a bit spicey and strong hop bitterness. A bit soapy and metallicy tasting. skortila (2907), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Aroma of fruity (orange/grapefruit) and floral hops with some caramel malty tones. Clear, amber coloured with a lasting, off-white head. Taste is moderate bitter, sweet with floral and fruity hops, some caramel malts. Medium bodied. Nice stuff. Dogbrick (2865), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 7, 2002 Middle of the road IPA. Hops were somewhat present in the aroma. Clear gold with a thin, short-lived head. Taste did seem slightly unbalanced. Hops flavor just didn’t have the legs for which I was hoping. I would take the Fuller’s or Sam Smith’s over this if given a choice. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 26, 2005 Nose is malty and woody, light copper, small tan head. Flavour is a woody malt. Light bodied, pleasantly bitter. Nice, but doesn’t fit the style. I’m unable to say who shared this? beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Heh, another beer i’ve had many a times that i’ve never rated, so what the heck, i’ll pick another up. Pours clear amber with a soft white head. Hops had a nice blend of herbal and citrus ties. Very light malt up front with a green bitter finish. I prefer a bit more flavoring hops then this provided me, this focused more on the bittering. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA

I think this is a great introductory IPA that’s no hop monster. Perhaps the best beer from Flying Dog. Slightly sour and tastes a bit like a Christmas tree.
