It seems to have turpentine hops along with caramel malts. Nice golden color that has a slight red hue. Good head and lots of lacing in my glass. When you first taste it you get an overly generous dose of the turpentine hops. Thankfully the ale is complex and the second wave is spicy with cloves and some maltiness. Aftertaste is bitter. I liken this one to the animal on the bottle, sort of an odd combination. Worthwhile if your an exotic hop lover. Aurelius (2648), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Bottle: Deep copper with an off-white head that laces sporatically. Restrained hops in the nose. Mainly flowery with some apparent caramel malt and light yeast. Flavor has some sweet phenolics upfront. The hop character leans toward herbal and light, without much charcter depth. Has a slightly inky bitterness in the finish. Simple IPA. tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2005 Bottle. Dark Orange pour, frothy white head. Medium to strong hop aroma, mostly citrus. Taste was quite citrusy (hoppy) as well, with a nice balance of malt sweetness. Surprisingly solid and well balanced and a pleasure to drink. Pailhead (2593), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Light citrus up front with a decent grapefruit bite in the finish. Could use a touch of sweetness to improve balance, but still good. downender (2587), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
