| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | May 8, 2005 Pours amber with a small head. Smells of grass and grapefruit. Tastes peppery with a slightly bitter albeit watery finish. More like a golden ale than an IPA. Not sure what qualifies this one as an IPA. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Golden coloured beer with a white head. Arom ais fairly sweet and malty. Some strong crystal, biscuity/cookie dough sweetness. Hops are there, cascade type with some woodiness. Flavour comes across a bit more piny than fruity. Some lemony citrus. As the beer warms up a strange aroma of wet dog and burned butter comes out that is really distracting. The hops that are here are bitter enough, but the whole thing lacks focus. Strange off-notes don’t help either. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 3, 2003 Mild amber. Aroma of corn an vegetables, and some weird hops. Flavor is interesting, of sour and rancid lettuce, but mostly of the regular APA malt syrup flavor. Bland finish. Cornfield (4980), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2004 Updated: Sep 26, 2006An acceptable IPA. Has a dark orange color with a quickly dissipating white head and carries a floral & citric hop aroma. Not as bitter in the buds as I prefer. Fairly balanced, and in IPAs, I look for the hops to win seriously. Okay.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2002 A bit thin and unsatisfying for an IPA. Some good flavors that just done finish. jbrus (4905), Delft, Netherlands
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Bottled. Floral and fruity (grapefruit) aroma. Amber color, beige head, good ace. Very bitter but sweet underneath, grapefruit, perfume. On the harsh side but still well drinkable. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2003 Pours a pale amber color with average head. Aroma is not very hoppy, slightly floral but full of citrus & grapefruit. Flavor is highly bitter with a very chinook hop flavor to it. Finishes nice and bitter. A good IPA for just the right mood. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 28, 2004 Beer #5 at Spiesy’s. This one didn’t do much for me. As might be expected from an IPA there is a pungent spicy hop aroma but, as Silk says, it gives the impression of heavy use of pellets or extract and doesn’t come over as very natural - extremely sappy, raw and a bit vegetal. Again. like the other Flying Dog beers, the pungency of the aroma doesn’t carry through to the palate very strongly. A bit dull in fact.
