This is what an American IPA should have. However, it really is a bit out of balance because IPAs should have more maltiness to back up this intensity. And at least 6.0 %. alcohol. Flying Dog’s original gravity is too low for an IPA. This makes the beer very drinkable in the lighter sense but if it had more malt to carry the bitterness it would be truely awesome. Typical american IPA. Fruity aroma, nice hoppy finish. Funny label. A really nice beer. PsionSaint (51), Colorado, USA

Nice flavor, balanced (you can taste the malt) with darker amber color. My favorite Flying Dog bottle art as well. WillieV (191), Maryland, USA

Aroma is sweet with a good helping of hop. Taste is dead on for an IPA nothing really overly done on it smooth finish with a slight aftertaste. IPAsavedMYlife (33), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

In the right setting I think this beer would be fantastic. It has plenty of lemon and grapefruit and some pine, which are perfect for the summer. The reason I feel this beer is under rated is that it offers many tasting notes to one gulp. FishManLA (300), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2008 Reddish amber color with moderate head that has some persistence. Nice lacing. Bready nose with fruity and floral notes. Hoppy taste with significant lacing of citrus. Dry hoppy finish. A good example of an American interpretation of an IPA. gringo332 (247), Richardson, Texas, USA

This brew pours orange amber colour, with a big fluffy aromatic white head. nicely hopped and well carbonated, strong citrus blend of hops and fruit forward in the finish.

Memorable because of a little mishap in the alcohol volume here, this was sold in the normal shops and they aren’t supposed to sell over 4,7% stuff. No wonder this was more delicious than the run of the mill ordinary shop IPAs.
