The beer is nicely balanced with a pleasant bitterness that lingers nicely, but does not "overstay its welcome". The palate is dry. An enjoyable beer. jujubeast6000 (802), Houston, Texas, USA

Slight bitterness, but in no way overpowering. Lable induces flashbacks, but all in all, a very good IPA. Tranquillity (1181), Espoo, Finland

Nice flowery, a bit bbq aroma. Intense perfume and pepper in the taste. The flavours hit you and stay for a long time. Good one, it almost tastes Brittish ;) emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2007 6 pack from Hegedorns. A nice golden pour with an enormous creamy rich head. A citrus nose, but lots of other saturated smells lie beneath the head. Taste is surprisingly not as strong as the aroma. It has a lot of flavor notes, but not as bitter as I expected. Aftertaste is ... interesting, and loves to linger even after 2 other beers. Hits the tongue smooth and tapers out dry after the gulp. All in all, the best Flying Dog I’ve had since the last variety pack had the IPA on the box but I ended up with 4 Octoberfests I gave to other people. As I saw with a couple other ratings, a solid IPA indeed. Egon (400), Gothenburg, Sweden

Great malt character to balance the huge hop blast. Nice throughout. Could only get it in a variety pack, would buy a whole case if I could. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA

Sweet malt smell, a little doughyness, small with very little hop aroma. Body is pretty full and creamy. Taste nice malty, pine hops, caramel, nicely balanced. I wasn’t expecting much, but was presently surprised.
