Receives bonus-points on appearance because of the twisted Ralph Steadman snakedog on the label. Hoppy aroma with some C-hop grapefruit and sweetness from the malt in the background. Smooth, hoppy & floral taste, with a lush long lasting citric grapefruit finish. Strong carbonation and mediuim/thick mouthfeel, this is yer archetypal American IPA. I could drink this by the liter. mrdeath5493 (108), Arkansas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2008 I’m almost embarrassed to say that this bottled American beer was probably better than anything I had on cask at the Derby Winter Beer Festival. It’s similar to Goose Island IPA without being as complex, but still thoroughly enjoyable, full of citrus fruit and hop flavours. I’m confused about the ABV, which I’ve seen listed at different amounts. groovinhigh (170), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2006 Rarely am I surprised by a beer, this one did just that. Poured into my Stone IPA glass this beer immediately starts to form a massive head and I have to stop the pour at 8 oz. so that I don’t spill over. Head diminishes at a rate of an inch a minute leaving behind the densest lacing I have ever seen. The glass looked like I had been drinking a milkshake! Which aptly describes this head. Can you say frothy and creamy. Enough of the looks what about the taste of this beer. This brewery has left me sadly disappointed in many ways in the past, but not this time. The biscuity flavor of the MO malt plays quite nicely with the Goldings hops. Clearly dry-hopped with a foreboding "C" hop. The only place I was let down was in the palate, a bit more mouthfeel and lasting presence would have been good. Excellent example of a traditional English IPA. Upon finishing a six pack, I came out of it liking it much more than when I started! The hop aroma is fresh and citrusy. Fairly dry with subtle caramel flavors. This makes a good beer for everyday use.
