Commercial Description:
Hunter S. Thompson once said, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Consider this our professional version of Gonzo Imperial Porter. Aged and seasoned for three months in wood barrels from our neighbors at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, this ale has a well-balanced taste and abundance of character. The taste will remind you of sweet chocolate, dry oak, and smooth whiskey with a memorable, velvety mouthfeel.

Bottled at Sorbon, Bromma, Sweden. Pours out in an opaque black colour with a rich lasting pale brown foam. Rich aroma of wood, licorice, black chocolate, coconut, ink, brown sugar and ash. Full-bodied with notes of oak, salty licorice, ash, black chocolate, brown sugar and black coffee. Long bitter finish of black coffee and chocolate and sweetish undertones of bourbon and caramelized sugar.

thanks to cbkschubert for knocking this one off my want list and sharing it with the phx crew...

pours dark... almost black with a huge overly carbonated brown head. odd sour aroma... possibly sour milk but more akin to rotten coffee. there is a waft of bourbon, spice, brown sugar, chocolate, charred wood and lots of maltiness but that ashy sour aroma won’t go away. the flavor is really raisin-y but without most of the sugar... ashy, toasted malt, chocolate, caramel/butterscotch/brown sugar, very slight bourbon, spice and then an unpleasant sour dry finish. i can’t place the exact flavor but it seems to have picked up some sort of bug or infection... over carbonation tames as the beer gets swirled in the glass but that, in turn makes it dead on the palate... something is off in this one. 7/4/6/3/13/3.3
