| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Tap at Barcade’s 4th Anniversary Party: Beer of the night over there. Pours an opaque black with a deep tan dense ring of head. The aroma has a great oak presence. Smooth whiskey without that boozy sweetness or ethanol. There’s also some burnt raisin and charred roast. Inviting aroma. Has a nice slick rich body; substantial without being cloying. The barrel added a great oakiness without booze or alcoholic flavors. Burnt fruits come through (raisin) with a smooth dark chocolate and espresso flavor. More smooth whiskey/oak and earthy woodiness integrates very well into the long roasted finish. Very well done barrel-aged beer. Cohesive and rich yet remains quaffable. joergen (8638), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2008 750 ml bottle - Pours a dark brown color with a large tan head. Suprisingly the large head doesn’t leave much lacing. Aroma is oak/whiskey, roasted malt, esters, and chocolate. Flavor is basicly the same with no one element over powering the other. Medium to full body. The alcohol is noticeable when it hits the stomach. The palate is pretty smooth. A darn nice beer. danielcurtis81 (916), San Diego, California, USA

One of the top 3 stouts/porters (don’t be fooled by the name) I have had. The non-aged Gonzo is a fantastic beer, but this version is fuller, deeper, and much more enjoyable. If you can find it, you have to try it. beergod (103), Austin, Texas, USA

It came in a nice wooden box that contained a piece of the barrel the ale was aged in,a nice half pint glass, and a gonzo pin. This ale is just amazing, it pours very dark and smells of a nice vanilla coffee. This ale is full bodied full flavored and very smooth, All in all just a great example of a barrel aged ale!!!
