The aroma is pleasantly woodsy and vaguely liquored. The drink is a powerful hurricane of thick, robust flavors of licorice, whiskey, smoked peat, and fermented raisins. I actually prefer the regular Gonzo, but this is a big ol’ beer for a big ol’ appetite. (#3154, 10/23/2007) TGLBeer (10), Delaware, USA

This takes the original Gonzo, and adds a little character to it. The slight vanilla and oak taste opens this beer up. Any bourbon drinker will taste the added beauty in the finish with the slight Alcohol taste that not present in the regular gonzo. Coffee (light) Dark bakers chocolate (light ) and an alcohol taste ( light). A great beer, and a fine testament to an amazing brewery. The do not let down. Enjoy. redlight (1492), Winter Park, Florida, USA

Jet black pour w/ tan head, good lace. Sweet butter, vanilla, whiskey & oak aroma. Touches of brown sugar and oddly hoppy. For a BA dry hopped and grassy was a surprise. Well coated thick palate. Light whiskey buttered toffee, roast malt touch of chocolate. Very good. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2007 750 ml expensive ass bottle shared at Glouglouburps rooftop tasting. Perfect looking with a viscous looking super dark black body and a large tan dense as a storm cloud head. Aroma of oak, semi-sweet chocolate, sour cherries, alcohol and a slight bit of funk. Palate has a lot of alcohol warming, a bit too much for my taste, and a medium palate with light carbonation. Flavor is dominated by alcohol but underneath that there is some detectable wood, chocolate and dark fruit sweetness. Perhaps a little more cellaring time will help the alcohol fade. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Poured an opaque black color with a large tan head. The aroma was woody and dry with light smoke. Then came vanilla and mild to moderate whiskey. There was also a good amount of sweet roasted malt but it took a little while to show. The flavor was of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, light vanilla, and light alcohol. Very good balance. Nice warmth. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 2, 2007 750 ml bottle thanks to xnoxhatex for brining this to andrew’s Bachelor party. We put this up against the regular gonzo. Pours a dark black with a beige head that laces away. Oaky vanilla nose with lots of alcohol, bourbon, and brown sugar. Sweet flavors of brown sugar, chocolate, alcohol, bourbon, dark fruit, and a dryness from alcohol and sweet bourbon. The alcohol is really too much here putting this out of balance and a little difficult to enjoy.
