Commercial Description:
Hunter S. Thompson once said, "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Consider this our professional version of Gonzo Imperial Porter. Aged and seasoned for three months in wood barrels from our neighbors at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, this ale has a well-balanced taste and abundance of character. The taste will remind you of sweet chocolate, dry oak, and smooth whiskey with a memorable, velvety mouthfeel.

BOTTLE: just about as good as it gets. Very dark pour, roasty chocolate on the nose, very complex flavor of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, oak....this is ridiculously good.

(750ml bottle) Pours dark brown (near black) body with a moderate tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, and coffee. Flavor of roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, burnt grain, and chocolate with a somewhat bitter, dry oak finish.

Sample (10 cl) at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2009. Black with medium creamy beige head. strong and sharp vanilla and coconut oak aroma, with sugary roasted aromas in the background, with notes of chocolate, tar and gunpowder. Medium to ful bodied, meduim carbonation. Salty finish.

Bottle. Sampled this one head to head with the regular Gonzo, and preferred the other version. Tasty, but a bit too much on the bourbon character for my liking. Nice roasted malts, oakiness, vanilla, and dark fruits.

Bottle@Home. Bourbon and vanilla aroma. Opaque colour, small brown head, good lace. Very sweet, very bitter, sourish, bourbon, vanilla, bit sugary. Full and warming. Flavourful and complex yet highly drinkable.
