Smooth as silk that gives you a mouth full as well. The time aged in the barrels definitely helped out tons. Long Live Gonzo!!! GreatLibations (1444), Last Supper, Arizona, USA

A good head when poured with good aromatics. Medium nectar with excellent carbonation. Chocolate malts are prominent with a mild roast component. I do detect some whisky essence but not much. The finish is long and savory. I has a nice balance for such a big beer. badlizard (2352), Berkeley, California, USA

Floral aroma of chocolate, berries, whiskey and oak notes. Silky smooth mouth feel. Taste initially of sweet chocolaty roasted malt transitioning to a smooth whiskey and oak taste and finishing slightly alcoholic. jdhunt76 (56), Winter Springs, Florida, USA

Pours a deep dark mohagany with a HUGE frothy head (it took nearly 15 minutes to pour) whose lacingclung to the glass even after it was empty. Rich chocolatey and smoky malt flavors, layered with the beautiful tastes and aromas imbued by barrel aging: oak, vanilla, and just the right velvety smooth touch of whiskey. The aftertaste lingers on the palate like a whiskey-filled dark chocolate truffle. All of the harsh-edged aggressive elements of the Gonzo are mellowed, and become instead a rich, full boldness of character. The truly amazing thing about this brew is that even with its vast richness and complexity, all of the flavors are still so remarkably well-balanced. Outstanding beverage. Easily one of the best beers I have ever tasted. DuffMan (2763), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

Pours black with a dense brown head. Heady aromas of chocolate, coffee, whiskey, and leather. Big in the mouth, heavy and silky. Chocolate and oaky vanilla are complimented by a spicey and subtley hoppy finish. There’s coffee and licorice notes to be teased out as well. Not nearly as hoppy as the regular Gonzo-- a totally different beer in my experience, and one that I paid $24 for a bottle but worth every single penny!!
