Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 8, 2009 750mL bottle. Poured clear lighter orange with a short-lived, fizzy-ish cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sour orange zest, white pepper, and floral & catty hoppage over pale and sourdough bready malts.. dry, Brett-like funk accented.. quite intriguing. The flavor opened with tart orange zest, white pepper, and a hint of rye, with pale malt and a little honey on the middle.. again there seemed to be Brett or similar funky yeast.. bitterness was a shell of its former self, sporting citrus and floral notes.. finished with dry residual honey and spices. Medium-bodied, tart, and spicy on the palate.. the latter character joined some alcohol warmth and clashed a bit on the back-end.. dry.. a little too thick of a feel to really be refreshing, but it was close. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 5, 2009 Bottle. Orangish pour. Grapefruit, orange, spices, yeast and some malt. Flaor is a bit tart and lightly funky with some yeast and oaky flavors. Good. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 26, 2009 Pours cloudy orange with a sudsy white head. Sweet citrus aroma and yeast. Taste is lemon, honey, orange and wheat. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours a cloudy orange with off white head. Great lacing. Aroma of citrus, yeast, malt, spice. Taste of citrus, malt, spice with mild tart finish. Very clean mouthfeel. Damn fine Saison! MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Jun 7, 2009 Great packaging. The bottle just feels like a good beer. Color is a transparent light amber yellow. Plenty of yeast but not the funk. More sweet orange citrus than lemon. Not sour really at all. A bit of a brown sugar maltiness. Doesn’t seem to fit the saison style completely. I don’t know. I really like this beer though. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jun 7, 2009 Bottle shared at the 6th Cellar Reduction. Near clear orange amber pour with very large near white head. Sampled after the ommegeddon saison. This one is sweeter, with more vanilla, yeasty breadiness, and residual sugars. Orange citrus aroma rather than lemon. A bit fuller in body and not quite as refreshing. I prefer the other I believe. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours a pillowed, lacing off-white head. Smells of lemongrass and wheat. Taste is orange, lemon, fig, french baguette. Finish is dry and citrus. Nice carbonation. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 25, 2009 Pleasant saison that finishes skillfully dry, without sourness, and so good drinkability. Aged a bit in my cellar. Pours a neutral colour with minimal head. A little spice in the aroma, a bit more in the taste. Above average mouthfeel.
