Poured from 750 ml bottle a dark brown color with an average creamy cascading brown head that was mostly lasting and good lacing. Heavy roasted malt, smoke and woody aroma. Flavour was of tobacco, hickory smoke, chocolate, toasted nut and sticky wheat. Mouth feel was medium bodied. Over, an OK beer, not my fave style. michael-pollack (2728), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured black in color with a small to medium-sized dense, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Not sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of roasted malts, smoke, bamburg wood, slight chocolate, slight wood, slight tobacco, slight caramel, and a hint of tar. Medium body. Smooth, slightly chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Lightly sweet, caramel, smoke, and malt finish is a tad chalky. ucusty (1912), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

The flavor was smoke, meat, malts, nuts and chocolate. Overall, I enjoyed this brew, probably the best smoked I’ve had so far. Very Good. chicagodri (1068), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Pours black with tan head. Awesome smokey aroma. Not as much smoke flavor as the aroma, but still well done. For some reason smoked beer is quickly becoming one of my favorites. jb (1057), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Not my favorite style. Was understated smoke in the nose, and malty, palate is nutty and very smoked. Thankfully this seems to be a bit aged or something to mellow it. No alc. presence. Appearance is very dark light head, minimal lacing. pilsnerrogge (1790), Finspång, Sweden
