Not much to look at, a deep caramel body with a short-lived tan head, but the aroma and flavor more than compensate. This silky drink has a complex aroma of yeast, soft malts, brown spices, and fruit - raisins, plums, banana, apples, pears... a healthy assortment. The fruit abounds in the flavor as well. Add to that the smoothness of wheat, berry jam, caramel, a touch of rust, some nuts, and a swelling of alcohol. Quite a drink!

Clear medium-dark copper body. Nice foamey light-tan head. Aroma somewhat jumps out with sour banana, caramelly wheat, belgian yeast remnants and esters... I rather like it. Sweet & sour flavor, berry spices, sweet bread, banana, sour wheat, nice concoction of yummy stuff. Great overall; not sure why the poor ratings. Needs to be an imperial weizen bock?

750 shared by Jason. Clear brown body, not much head. Complex and interesting aroma. Roasted pecan, smoked/spiced sausage, and worty carmal extract. Some apple fruiting as well. Big fruity malts in the flavor - banana, clove, ripe pear. This is followed by that sausage spice, sage, and orange peel. Complimentary mouthfeel. A tasty, spicy beer.

Dark brown body, light tan head, ok lacing. Tasted raisin sweet with brown sugar, nice but a little too sweet. Mellow hop finish. Aroma was sweet and plummy, just a little banana.

(750ml bottle) Pours an amber-brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of smoke, sausage, soap, and somewhat metallic. Flavor is mostly malt with light sourness and hops.

Bottle (something big for 1300). Prune and banana aroma with moderate alcohol nose. Murky orangish brown color with minimal head. Slight sweet banana/orange peel flavor with moderate astringency and alcohol. Mild hops finish. Fairly light for the style. Good but Aventinus is a better buy.

Bottle. Body-iced tea body with a thick film of bubbles. Nose-banana (light), metal. Taste-earthy, wheaty, alcohol, cottony. Metal nose hurts the score.
