Jimmack "06. Pour was hazy amber with white head. Slight plastic nose. Yeast taste, gritty, with a staleness to it. Not something I will seek out again.

Still not sure what to think of this brewery. The Gonzo Porter I had was absolutely horrendous, so I tried this with a bit of trepidation. It was...okay. I didn’t hate it, nor did I love it. It was just...okay. Aroma was a funky yeast that didn’t do much for me, but once I got past that it was on to more weirdness like scorched fruit (ugh). Appearance was a really nice chesnut color, nice conditioning. Mouthfeel was pretty light, nothing heavy or harsh. Flavor for me was a lot of banannas and cloves. It was really sweet too with a roasty character that didn’t seem to mesh real well with the banannas. Overall it wasn’t horrible but it didn’t really do much to change my opinion of Flying Dog. I will keep trying though to find that one beer they make that I like.

Thanks to Frumpty for sharing this at Jimmacks place. Pours a hazy deep amber with a thin lasting off white head. Aroma is not really how you would expectr a weizenbock. There are practically no fruity banana esters, or any phenolics for that matter, besides a slight plasticy phenol that is very subtle. Dirty yeasty, and musty aroma with some stale malts and no hops. Flavor is a bit bland as well- some stale malts, lgiht caramel sweetness, muddled by the yeast, and finishes a bit dirty and harsh. Slightly tangy and zesty in the end as well. Noticed a bit of astringency. Meh.

Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours a deep bronze with a decent off-white head. Aroma of of yeast, wheat, alcohol, and some slight hopping. Flavor is sweet, smooth, caramel, wheat, slight spices, and a slight bitter finish (metallic-like). Good body, good brew.

Corked bottle. Dark hazy brown pour with a large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and had good lacing. Heavy caramel nuts tart citrus aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Medium swqeet flavor with a bitter finish of moderate duration. This is an outstanding beer.

Bottled. Murky brown pour. Sweet, hot aroma with some dark fruit notes. More sweet, dark fruits in the flavor as well. Raisins and honey notes. Slight banana/ clove notes.

750ml bottle with a cork that I had to fight tooth and nail to get out with no pop when I finally did. Pours cloudy brown with a short tan head that fades to a ring and leaves traces of lacing from then on down. Sweet caramel malt, bannana, cloves, and a hint of bubblegum waft above this one. Flavor is malty sweet as well with those same bannana, clove, and bubblegum flavors coming through. Medium body with a somewhat oily mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable. Happy to see this one as I like the style but it doesn’t seem to get a lot of entries.
