This poured a very light yellow, almost white ciolor with a big white head. Aroma was mainly spices =with hints of light citrus fruits as well. Flavor was alot more fruity than spicey unlike the nose. Lite citrus fruits and some blandish wheaty character as well.

Pours an extremely cloudy pale creme-yellow with a soapy white head. This stuff has a lot of yeast in it, real thick chunks of silt. Head retains for a while and is somewhat chunky, leaves very nice lacing. Aroma is light,...bready yeast, spice and coriander. Flavor is slightly sweet and mirrors the aroma for the most part. However, I detected a little bit of citrus that I couldn’t smell. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth, pretty mild carbonation for the style. A little different than a typical wit, but not too shabby. I like Flying Dog because they make solid brews that have their own distinct traits, and aren’t afraid to do something a little different.

Nose is spicy and yeasty. Hints of orange zest, pepper and coriander. Flavor has an earthy yeast note to it, with a backbone of spice and malt. Overall, refreshing, although a bit bland.

12oz brown glass pry-top. Proprietary date: 315FX09. Appearance: Rough pour pulls up 2+ fingers of frothy white head that disapaits quickly leaving sheeting! Hazy, pale lemon-yellow. Nose: Muted and subtle. Faint whispers of wheat and brewery floor. Something like corn husk (coriander seeds most likely). Reminds me of the beach (sand+salt water+sun screen). No detectable citrus though. Palate: Medium-bodied and round mouthfeel. Great carbonation. Subtle again with wheat, yeast and that ocean beach feeling. Citrus notes are made akin to dried lemon peel, but very subtle. Notes: A odd variation on the style, but props for originality! This beer reminds me so much of sitting on the white sand beaches of Sarasota, FL, I wish I were back there drinking this beer with my buddy Lenny who first turned me on to Flying Dog at Atlantis Aquariums (bar in SRQ)!

Sampled on draft at Rivertowne this beer poured a hazy dark yellow color with a small white head. The aroma was faint with notes of must and citrus. The flavor was tart, musty and a bit peppery with a moderate citrus element. The finish was dryish citrus and pepper. Decent.

A nice little brew. has a nice unfiltered taste, a little bit of spice mixed in, with a hint of banana and bubble gum.

Really pale whitish, yellow, cloudy colour. Quickly descending, white, frothy head, that leaves lacing as it gets down to the bottom. Banana and clove aroma. Taste is mildly sweet and laden with a lot of banana and spices, especially cloves. Palate may have a little problem, possibly because of a little too much carbonation.

Full review available at: http://beer47.com/2009/02/flying-dog-woody-cr ----- Condensed review: ----- Appearance. This beer has cloudy yellow-orange color. The head is white and doesn’t last very long. ----- Smell. The bouquet has citrus, lemon, with a hint of orange and spice. The aroma has a hint of unroasted grains. ----- Taste. The taste is crisp with light citrus, like lemon with a hint of coriander. It is sweet and refreshing with very little bitterness. ----- Mouthfeel. This beer is light bodied, crisp, and has no bitter aftertaste. ----- Drinkabili This is a smooth witbier and it is easy to drink more than one of these in a single session.
