Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Drinkable, didn’t have much head to the beer, maybe was an old keg. A touch of sweetnees to the tongue, but went down somewhat rough. Would drink again, but wouldn’t be my first choice.

Bottle pours a clear deep chestnut with a small but creamy light tan head leaving thin wispy persistant lacing. Lots of caramel malt aroma with over ripe apples, cinnimon and alcohol. Flavor is not as interesting. Some of those sweet caramel malts afgain but slightly sour and woody. The Belgian yeast flavors are prominant but balace with everything well.Slight alcohol notes and a nice smooth palate. Very softly carbonated and a late trailer of ash.

So it pours a light brown with a slightly off white head that moves away at a moderate pace. Definitely smelled a lot of toffee in the aroma with a little bit of booze for good measure. Taste is that good old banana with some alcohol on top. Maltiness is there a little bit and so is some caramel. It is sweet, but not one of the really sweet dubbels. Not too bad.

Slightly hazy ruby/copper with a small head. Medium lacing. Aroma of yeast/bananas, toffee and caramel. Fruity and sweet; dark fruits, mostly. Finishes sweet. Pretty run of the mill, but not bad.
