Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Pours a dark amber brownish color with a medium beige head that fades rather quickly. Aroma is spicy with hints of banana, nutmeg, nuts and alcohol. Taste is a combination of banana, nutmeg, figs and other dark fruits with a slight hint of alcohol. Quite enjoyable and one of Flying Fish’s finest.

Thanks to Immy. From bottle, pours a ruby brown with tan head. Nose is brown sugar with some light spices and yeast. Flavor has hints of dark fruits, raisins, with a light bitter finish. Overall, pretty thin for the style.

12 oz bottle bought at the brewery. Clear, reddish tinged brown with a small white head. Nose is sweet malt, brown sugar. Flavor was more of the same, a bit of nuttiness added. A bit thin and one dimensional for a dubbel, but a good beer nonetheless. I have to echo Degarth - gputty and I said the same thing while we drank it. The first "session dubbel".

Courtesy of Beastiefan2k <P> Sweet malt dominated aroma with mild hints of candied nuts. Mahagony colored with a diminishing thumb thick tan head. Fore is sweet malts with nutty accents and a dry finish. Lacks the body of a true Belgian dubbel as well as the range of flavor. Pretty basic and up front, but tasty enough. A session dubbel?

2006 bottle. Sweet typical dubbel aroma, pours a dark burgundy color with generous that stays. Taste is sweet but drinkable with a decent palate. Agood dubbel that is inexpensive. Cheers!

Copper brown color with no head. Fruity aroma with some hops and malts. Taste was rather complex with malts, hops, fruits, and nuts (almonds?). Creamy texture. Nicely done.

Appears a transparent brown toned amber with a small off white cap. Spotty lacing is left around the glass. Smell is of cocoa dosed sugar(ala Special B/Belgian Chocolate Malts) with a tiny bit of a wheat smell in there...mild off corn husk aroma buried in the background that is barely noticeable. Taste is of the aromas although it strikes me more of a dunkel weizen that’s been brewed with some candi sugar and fermented with the Chimay yeast. Mouthfeel is fizzy at first, smoothing out into a sugary cocoa brew.
