Flavor is much the same with a little pronounced yeast spike which I liked actually. Smooth with just the right amount of burn in the finish. Tasty. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2006 Dubbel? No! Certainly malty and fruity, but missing the intensite of the belgian yeast. A bit alcoholic in the nose. Finish is clean and crisp. Refreshing and tasty, but more like a sweet brown. Birdiebeagle (788), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Bottle - courtesy of slob. Pours a lazy bronze with a small whitish head. Nose is fruity and sweet with light candy notes, yeast and a hint of flowers. Taste brings out light raisin notes and cherries, chewy malts, plums, a bit of flowers, light yeast and spice. Body is smooth with light carbonation and a bit of alcohol warmth. Finishes with big fruits (more cherries and plums), light yeast, Belgian spiciness and sweet maltiness. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2005 This beer is quite carbonated; as I pour it, it generates a three-finger thick pale tan head. The beer is a deep amber color that shows brilliantly clear ruby highlights when held up to the light. The aroma is rich, fruity and accented by notes of smooth brandy; I get notes of rich raisins, concentrated sweet plum and a bit of fig. The fruitiness is really what stands out in the aroma, quite sweet, and quite noticeable.
The taste has a light sweetness to it up front, which only grows as the beer slips down my throat. The beer finishes with a concentrated, sweet note that is a mix between figs and raisins, though quite a bit sweeter than either is naturally. The beer is somewhat light on the palate, but it does have a bit of heft to it from the sweetness. I am really quite surprised by the intense fruitiness that is found in this beer; there is also some sort of note that reminds me of concentrated pulpy plum flesh, almost has a hint of astringency to it as well. There is a bit of hot alcohol in the finish, but not any more than a subtle note reminiscent of rum and brandy. Overall this is pretty tasty, but like many Dubbel’s it seems to be lacking a certain something. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 11, 2005 Pale shadow of an abbey dubbel. Very drinkable, but the flavors are middle of the road. this is an abbey dubbel for coors drinkers, but they don’t care about dubbels, so I’m not sure what the point of this beer is. I’m glad I had it, because the other options at the restaurant I ordered it at were much worse. But I’m glad I didn’t buy a 6-pack of it, as I’d considered before. beerbill (1951), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2005 12 oz. bottle. Very good stuff. Pours a deep brown with a thick tan head. Nice fruity aroma. Flavor is malt initially and then some bitterness kicks in along with some slight heat from alcohol. Very smooth and enjoyable.
