Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

this was a good beer, nice healthy lasting head, great smell of spices and great taste, lacks a bite though.

Tap. A good amber brown color. A very sweet and spicy aroma with a nice taste to balance it.

Medium amber with sticky, lasting lace - inviting aroma of belgian sugars, light fruits, mustiness and spice - a nice balance of tartness and sweetness in the flavor, with some light fruitiness, some apple, pear - lingering cloves and caramel - Middle of the road for the style, but still quite tasty.

Some fruit in yeast, yeasty and bitter aftertaste. Underachieving Belgian. Modest carbonation and medium mouthfeel. The soap must be from their washing of glass. Had at The Standard Tap

(Bottle) Pours a dark amber body with a small off-white head. Complex aroma of fresh bread, caramel, cereal, perfume, citrus, and butterscotch. Malty base flavor with some caramel.

This one seem more in the mold of a brown ale than a dubbel to me. Brown appearance with a moderate head. Some grapes, caramel, and nutmeg in the flavor. Pretty good session beer if nothing else.

Bottle from Lou18. A nice clear brown color with a slight off-white head. Aroma is malty, slightly wine like. Medium bodied and smooth. Very nice malty taste. Slight alcohol warming sensation. A bit of hop bitterness towards the finish to balance things out well. Very nice.
