Aroma: small, but still spicy, fruity...a bit shy at first, but increasing in complexity as we go...
Taste: nice, tasty, neat little bounce on the palate, good hoppiness, bright fruit.
Sadly, though, it lacks the greater complexity I’d need in a true abbey dubbel, one of my favorite types of beer. A nice try, though.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2004 Simple head despite hard pour. Initially malty sweet with complexity growing and developing in the finish. Very pleasant and "clean" - very nice and enjoyable. Lacking the depth of other Belgians or Belgian styled beers, but not as simplistic as that may sound. willblake (2180), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Aromas are bready, deep prune, malty in a sticke way. Body is light but coating. Grape and ripe melon melds with golden raisin, light nutmeg. Nice beer, but rather light and lacking much dubbel character. No alcohol influence in this 7+% brew. Belgian hints, yeasts remind me of the Farmhouse saison. Jine (896), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

Given to me in bottle by a gentleman and a scholar this summer in east brunswick, nj. A fair try at producing a Dubbel...but its just not quite right rudolf (1775), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2004 Nice try by Flying Fish. Pleasant presentation in the sweet malts, ruby-copper coloring, beige head, medium deep body and subtle, not complex, flavors. Also pleasant to drink with the alcohol content masked fairly well. No Belgian from Belgium though. desurfer (1068), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 3, 2004 Pours a deep brown with a tiny head. This beer seems to be dominated by a caramel maltiness in both the flavor and aroma. Good to drink, but too oone-simensional to get a good score. LiamPatrick16 (124), Montgomery, New York, USA
