Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Dark orange brown caramel color. Aroma was also caramel and sweet. Taste was a bit hoppy with more caramel and sweet and some spice.

Tasting notes aren’t so good on this one, as it was the last beer I had in a very long day of tasting. I can make out the part where it says "I love flying fish" but I’m not sure if it meant the brewery or the fish that were disguised as birds. So somehow, I’m going to play with the numbers so it comes up with the 4.0 that’s in my notebook.

Clear brown body topped by minimal beige head. Aroma is candy sugar sweet, raisin, toffee, some orange, light cinnamon. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, raisin. Watery light-medium body -- hides the alcohol well.

Dark brown in color with a pleasent aroma with coffee and malty hints. Tastes of caramel and malt with some spices. Nice beer.

Bottle. Poured dark mahogany color with garnet highlights in the light and a thick off white head that settled slowly and left nice lacing. Aroma is rich and appealing, molasses, coffee, figs and yeasty sweetness. Flavor is nice, sweet and fruity, chocolate notes, spice and a lingering dry finish. A pleasant treat tonight!

Poured a nice light brown with a thick fizzy gead that didn't last. Aroma was mildy sweet with caramel and brown sugar. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Nuts, caramel, spices, and earth tones on the tongue. Not exactly what I'd consider a good abbey dubbel, nevertheless, it was a decent beer.

On Tap. This is a good Abbey Double. Fruity, caramel, and sweet flavors. Finishes smooth, clean, and dry.
