Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Brownish copper, thin beige head. Quite a bit of alcohol on the nose, plus raisin and prune, maybe a touch of tobacco. Flavor is very bready and sweet, with some earthy notes, too. Some alcohol in the finish. Not much yeast in the bottle - not any, actually.

12 oz botle. WOW. First sip is amazing. And by amazing I mean horrible. Slight roastiness to the point where it tastes almost like bad bacon. This beer got better the second sip, but only because it hit so f*cking rock bottom on the first sip. awful.

12oz bottle-pours a rich dissipating off white head and amber color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-molasses, spice, yeast. Taste is lots of sweet medium malt-molasses, peat, spice-hops, yeast. Nice, easy drinking, interesting interpretation of the style. Has a dopplebock character. OK carbonation.

Dark reddish orange color with a thin wispy head. Had a sweet malty aroma. Initial taste was a little crisp hoppy bite that mellowed to a sweet caramel sweetness. As the beer warmed up there was a little bit of a citrus taste and a dry finish with a bit of a spice.

Courtesy SoLan. Slightly cloudy copper-amber color with a thin broken soapy white head. Very sweet aroma with a Belgian yeastiness in the background. Very light spice also. Smooth throughout, caramel and spice, not enough Belgian yeast character, though. Some heat on the back end. Kind of plain, even for a dubbel.

Rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Pours orange with a beige head. Aroma s are light and consist of grain, fruit, and apricot. Fruit, peaches, chocholate, toffee, caramel, and alcohol in the flavors. The alcohol tastes a little metallic, but maybe that’s just me.

Rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Dark brown, creamy small off-white head. Alc, burnt brown malt/sugar aroma with apricot. Strawberry flavor, al, burnt sugar, pretty sweet and grainy. Medium to thin body, lively carb, little creamy. Very fruity and sweet.
