| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Bottled. Poured deeper brown with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet vinous and dark fruity notes, chocolate, and some spices.. came off as quite enjoyable with little hop presence. The flavor was a tad behind with some grainy and phenol-ey notes jumping out at points.. raisins, other dark fruits, and caramel at the core with mild bitterness. About medium-bodied with a decent flow to it, but it was certainly sharp and lacking at points. Decent brew. EithCubes (2151), Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Bottle. Dark, strangely funky aroma. Faint sweet fruit with subtle yeasty-vinous notes and deft strokes of raisin and caramel. Malt with a touch of cinnamon/nutmeg. Murky brown pour with a short, slightly lacing beige head. Very dry, only lightly bitter and medially spicy taste. Sweet candied fruit and very nice dark malt, plums and grapes and raisins with nuts and caramel. Light body but not watery, a good deal of malt and Belgian yeast keeping it from seeming that way. Surprisingly complex and refreshing. Wow, this is surprisingly goof! nearbeer (1842), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2007 355 ml. Darkish brown with copper highlights. Medium-sized head settles into a heavy creamy foam that lasts all day, and leaves a sheet of lace all over the glass. Aroma is slight chocolate-banana, and malt with some dry hops. Initial flavor is very balanced; almost seems more dry-earth, bitter hops than malt. Halfway through the glass, the big malt that you expect shows up with some figs and chocolate, maybe some soured fruit on the finish. Palate is smooth and medium bodied with a touch of dryness. This is a quality dubbel, but the yeast or the hops (or both) give this one a twang that I just don’t care for, similar to the Chimay Red. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

A touch of sweetnees to the tongue, but went down somewhat rough. Would drink again, but wouldn’t be my first choice. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
