Commercial Description:
This Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel is an exceptionally complex beer with many interwoven flavors. This classic-style Abbey beer features an immense head with a fruity nose and a generous body. Malty in the middle, the beer features a clean, almondy dry finish and a slight alcohol warmth. More like a wine than a beer—it has a lot of the qualities of a fine Burgundy. The beer is bottle-conditioned.

Bottle poured a clear cinnamon brown with a long lasting amber head. Aromas of raisins, toffee, and spices. Palate was medium bodied, dry and a bit astringent. Flavors of dark fruit, spices and a bit of smoke with a dry bittersweet finish.

On tap at KSBF ’08. Medium amber body with a large head. Lightly sweet and spicy nose. Flavor was sweet and sticky, some spicy esters, rather bland. This is supposed to pass as a dubbel? Next.

Smooth, very nutty and full of a caramel rich flavor. Pleasantly surprised, but I think the caramel flavor is a little overbearing but still very drinkable...

Beer pours from the bottle a ruby color with a small head that does stick around. It has a malty, sweet aroma and it tastes just about the same. It is good, if a little light in body. Maybe a bit to sweet.
